I am writing to ask for your support. As you may have heard in the news there are a number of issues linked to funding within education and currently there is a review of Nursery funding. This does not directly effect Bradshaw, but it does have a huge impact on maintained nurseries in Warrington with Sandy Lane Nursery and Free School feeling the greatest pressure. In fact the changes could lead to the closure of this wonderful resource for the children on Warrington. Sandy Lane not only takes in children from the local area, but it also supports children with special needs from across the borough. I have received the following message from the head at Sandy Lane:
As I am sure you are all now well aware the proposed ‘fairer funding’ for Nursery Schools and nursery classes will result in less funding per child in the maintained sector. This will be devastating for Nursery Schools taking them to the point of closure.
Nursery Schools are proven to be the most successful early years’ provider in terms of children’s outcomes and are likely to be situated in areas of deprivation. Should Sandy Lane Nursery and Forest School close the children and families of Orford/Longford area and families across the town with children with SEND would lose this amazing provision and the expertise we have here – we support on average 140 children with SEND and 90 mainstream children each year.
Please could you put up the poster I have attached and give out flyers to parents. Please could you as headteachers sign the petition and ask your staff to do the same – it takes less than a minute – and encourage as many parents as possible to sign the petition too. If you have a nursery class the petition will also be supporting your objection to the proposed ‘fairer funding’ formula.
As a family of schools I thank you in anticipation of your support.
If you would like to show your support please sign this petition.
